Severe weather spotter training opportunities ahead
SKYWARN classes offered in coming weeks across Minnesota, western Wisconsin
It still looks a lot like winter in Minnesota. But springtime severe storms will be here soon enough.
If you’re a storm watcher there are some training opportunities ahead.
The SKYWARN program provides training for severe weather spotters. Storm spotters can provide critical ground truth to the National Weather Service during severe weather outbreaks. The radio network provides instant communication with local NWS offices during severe weather.

The National Weather Service maintains a calendar of upcoming classes for the SKYWARN training program in greater Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The nonprofit group Metro Skywarn maintains a calendar of upcoming classes in the Twin Cities region. There is no cost for the classes.
