A discussion of the ongoing trauma and mental health impacts from the U.S. government’s American Indian Relocation Program. The program was designed in the 1950s to assimilate indigenous people into a white-centric society by moving people away from their rural tribes to live in cities.
National indigenous experts convened at the Minneapolis American Indian Center to delve into the impacts of historical trauma and the resiliency factors that empower so many to overcome persistent systems of discrimination.
