MPR News AM Update: Where elder abuse often originates

Most abuse of the elderly is by children or family. MPR News’ Peter Cox reports on the scope of Minnesota’s elder abuse problem — which affects about 1 in 10 older people — and what the latest research shows.

Amy Klobuchar has made the most select pool of presidential contenders so far. The senator and five other candidates — Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — have qualified for the Dec. 19 debate so far. That’s four fewer than the number who will be in next week’s debate.

Remember: lake ice is not safe yet. As Updraft’s Ron Trenda reminds us, at least 4 inches of new ice are necessary to support a person’s weight. Anything more requires at least another inch, and don’t even think about driving on ice until it’s a foot thick.
