The words of longtime award-winning NPR journalist and author Cokie Roberts, who has died at the age of 75. She was considered one of the “founding mothers” of NPR.
On Tuesday, Nina Totenberg called Roberts "the personification of human decency."
Cokie Roberts came to Minnesota several times for speaking engagements, and spoke at local Catholic colleges. You can hear excerpts of two talks she gave about values, courage, public service and leadership.
First, here's Cokie Roberts speaking on April 16, 2019, at the Hendrickson Forum at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. Her talk was titled, “Weaving the Social Safety Net at Home and Around the World."
Cokie Roberts gave the annual Eugene J. McCarthy Lecture at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University on Sept. 18, 2013.
