It’s been three years since a northern Minnesota juvenile correctional facility closed, after an APM Reports investigation exposed allegations of maltreatment there.
But even now, there still isn’t a replacement for Mesabi Academy—and APM Reports has learned that many kids who would have been sent to the facility are now being shipped to other states.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer talked to APM Reports investigative reporter Tom Scheck about the situation.
