Today's lesson, courtesy of the best sport ever invented, is (a) don't forget your roots and (b) don't miss a chance to make a difference in some kid's life.
Jude Rowe, 4, showed up at the ballpark with his hair dyed just like his favorite player Delino DeShields of the Texas Rangers.
"People need role models, some bigger than others," DeShields said on Sunday after driving in the winning run in his team's game. "It's up to us to impact the community in the best way that we can. That's what it's all about."
“Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have even seen him if I hadn’t gotten the Gatorade bath,” DeShields said. “It just all kind of worked out the way it was supposed to.”
