It's been awhile since we talked about "dibs," the curious -- and somewhat eccentric -- practice of declaring as yours, that which is not yours.
Spots at parades, for example.
Or parking spaces. Or seats at graduations.
Frankly, we'd forgotten we even have a "dibs" category on NewsCut.
With climate change, the winter parking "dibs" may soon be a thing of the past. So we will enjoy Emerson College grad Sarah Ginsburg’s four-minute video, titled “Spacesavers” while it still has relevance (Emerson is the NewsCut alma mater)
“I just found the act so odd, and that so many people do it that it’s completely normal,” she tells the Boston Globe. “I just loved the variety of objects people were willing to set outside and choosing to represent what they’ve done and where their car belongs.”
