The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra has named Richard Egarr as its newest artistic partner.

The SPCO is primarily an unconducted ensemble, but collaborates with a group of artistic partners who visit for short periods to lead concerts.

An early-music specialist, Egarr has served as director of the Academy of Ancient Music in Cambridge, England, since 2006. He is a keyboardist who has also conducted major symphony orchestras around the world and performed with leading baroque ensembles.

Egarr joins the SPCO's five other artistic partners. Egarr does not begin his SPCO tenure until September 2019, but will lead four concerts of Handel's Water Music this coming weekend in the Twin Cities.
