Minnesotans reported a rare sight in the sky Friday afternoon.
Friday was the first sun in 8 days for many Minnesotans. It's not an exaggeration to say that seasonally affected disorder (SAD) was setting in early for many of you who I talked with in the past week. A full-spectrum "happy light" box can improve your symptoms.

The good weather news? Our upper air weather pattern changes for the sunnier next week. A drier pacific flow kicks in.

And temperatures will recover nicely by next Thursday. Take a look at the temperature outlook below. I still think the numbers below are too conservative for next Thursday and Friday. NOAA's GFS suggest mid-60s for the Twin Cities. I won't be shocked to see some towns in southern Minnesota hit 70 degrees late next week.
Fall colors popping
Fall colors are popping now around the Twin Cities. The bright sun and blue sky enhance the show. I snapped this shot near the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen Friday afternoon.
Colors are now past peak in parts of northern Minnesota. The Minnesota DNR reports 50 to 75-percent colors around the Twin Cities.
Look for peak fall color in the next week across southern Minnesota.
