Frosty Saturday morning ahead; S…s…snow up north?

It'll soon shake your windows

And rattle your walls

For the times they are a-changin'. -- Bob Dylan

Dylan wasn't talking about the weather, but he could have been.

The weather maps take on a different tune over the next few days. A few renegade snow showers fly across northern Minnesota by Friday. A frosty air mass ends the growing season in much of Minnesota Saturday morning.

Blue is the color of choice across Minnesota Saturday morning.

I still think most of the inner Interstate 494-Interstate 694 loop will (barely) escape frost Saturday morning. But you may want to cover up your petunias if you want to keep them for a few more days.

Record lows up north?

Some of you in northern Minnesota may see near-record lows Saturday morning. I know.

Temps rebound next week

The models are still in flux about how warm it will get next week. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Global Forecast System model suggests a rainy summer-like pattern Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s again.

This model blend puts highs near 70 degrees in the Twin Cities next week.

Fall colors popping now up north

Trees are starting to change more rapidly now in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Happy leaf-peeping.
