Growing season ends in most of Minnesota Saturday

It's that time of the year.

Nippy nights lay a frosty film on the Minnesota landscape. Frost has already occurred in parts of northern and central Minnesota. That's typical in September up north. The average date of the first frost in the inner Twin Cities urban core inside the 494/694 loop is around October 10.

Growing season ends Saturday morning

The 2018 growing season will end across much of Minnesota Saturday morning. I still think the inner core of the Twin Cities will escape frost Saturday morning. But it will be close.

Here's a look at expected lows early Saturday.

If the inner Twin Cities escapes frost Saturday morning, we may buy at least a few more days in the 2018 growing season. Temperatures moderate again next week.
