The 12th biggest snowstorm in Twin Cities is finally history. But it's still clearly evident on our lawns and fields.
The official total of 15.8" at MSP Airport is the 12th largest on record.

Our next system is a quick hitter and won't linger. Looks for a wintry mix late Tuesday night favoring all snow Wednesday. NOAA's GFS and other models suggest the heaviest snows will fall south of the Twin Cities with this one.
A winter storm watch is up for southern Minnesota. Mercifully, they do not include the Twin Cities this time.
The heaviest 6"+ snows should bracket the I-90 corridor. The Twin Cities likely picks up some slushy accumulations on the storm's northern edge.
Milder days ahead?
All the major forecast models are pushing much milder air into Minnesota starting this weekend and through next week. If we can melt enough snow, we should see 50s by Sunday.
Here's a map we have't seen in a while. Warmer than average colors in the Upper Midwest by next week?
Both the European and American models are putting out more consistent 50s with some 60s next week.
The milder air will be welcome. The downside is if it gets too warm too fast, rapid snow melt will drive an increased river flood threat. Sometimes it seems Minnesota weather is just waiting for the next natural disaster.
