Our daily snow melt continues across most of Minnesota this week. Temperatures cool slightly Thursday, but another mild push this weekend boosts temperatures back into the spring-like 40s across Minnesota.
February's changing snow cover
This has been a productive month for snowfall in the Upper Midwest. Now we're in full melt mode. Snow cover at MSP Airport has dropped from 10" Sunday to 7" by Wednesday afternoon. Here's a cool snow cover time-lapse from the Aberdeen NWS office.
Messy system Sunday
Sunday's system looks messy in the Twin Cities and snowy up north. The latest model runs continue to suggest mostly rain ending as snow Monday in southern Minnesota. Significant snowfall accumulations are looking likely in the northern half of Minnesota.
It's early and the finer details will likely change, but NOAA's GFS model gives you the idea of a messy system.
