Until Friday, we hadn’t reached 50 degrees this November in the Twin Cities.
The official Twin Cities temp hit 50 just before 9 a.m. Friday, and temps continued to rise.
The official high temp was 60 degrees at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport early Friday afternoon, a new Twin Cities record high for November 24th:
That's impressive, since our average high temp is only 36 degrees this time of year!

It was nice that the record warmth happened on the day after Thanksgiving, since a lot of people had Friday off.
Daily record highs were also set Friday in St. Cloud (57 degrees) and Rochester (61 degrees).

Temperature trends
Saturday highs are expected to range from the upper 40s in southwestern Minnesota to the upper 20s in northeastern Minnesota:
Lower 40s are expected in most of the Twin Cities metro area.
Sunday's highs will be a bit warmer in many spots, with 30s over about the northern half of Minnesota, and mostly 40s in the south:
A few spots in southwestern Minnesota could touch 50 on Sunday.
Twin Cities metro area high temps could reach the lower 50s on Monday, followed by upper 40s Tuesday and lower 40s Wednesday through Friday.
Dry week ahead
Most of Minnesota is expected to have dry weather over the next 5 to 7 days.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from this weekend through the coming week:
You can see just a few small areas of rain/snow in far northern Minnesota Monday night and Wednesday night.
The color chart to the right of the loop refers to the precipitation rate (mm per hour), not to the total amount of rain or snow.
A different kind of November
The first 18 days of November were very warm last year in the Twin Cities metro area:
It turned sharply colder on November 19th last year, and a couple of inches of snow fell in the Twin Cities a few days later.
The high on November 24, 2016 was only 37 degrees.
Much of November has been very chilly this year:
Temps have been a bit milder this week, and you could call it "warm" this Friday with that record November 24th high of 60 degrees.
