Parts of northeastern Minnesota saw generous snowfall amounts Wednesday night into early Thursday.
There's a report of 5.6 inches a few miles northwest of Two Harbors and 6 inches of snow fell near Finland, Minnesota.
The National Weather Service will post additional snowfall amounts as they come in.

Snow returns late Friday
Another batch of snow is expected to move into Minnesota late Friday afternoon and spread northeastward.
Snow accumulations are likely over central and northern Minnesota.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Friday afternoon through Saturday:
Northeastern Minnesota could see several inches of snow from Friday evening into Saturday:
The Twin Cities metro area will probably see a mix of rain and wet snow Friday evening into early Saturday, then a transition over to rain showers.
At this point, only minor snow accumulations are expected in the Twin Cities metro area, but check back for forecast updates.
The metro area could also see some rain showers Sunday morning.
Temperature trends
Highs are expected to be in the 30s over most of Minnesota Thursday afternoon, with some lower 40s possible in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area.
Our average high temperature is 49 degrees this time of year in the Twin Cities.
Friday will be in the 30s statewide:
On Saturday, central and southern Minnesota will see some 40s:
Sunday will also feature some highs in the 40s, and a few spots in the southeast could touch 50:
Most of the northern third of Minnesota will see 30s on Sunday.
Twin Cities metro area highs are expected to be in the upper 30s Monday through Wednesday.
A lot warmer last November
The first two weeks of November 2016 were unusually warm in The Twin Cities metro area.
Highs were in the 60s or 70s on eleven of the first sixteen days of November 2016:
We had a lot of sunshine on most of those days in the first half of November last year.
I remember playing some mid-November golf, which is nice!
Twin Cities highs finally cooled into the 30s on November 19th.
