I-94 east closure tops Twin Cities weekend road woes

Last weekend it was a westbound Interstate 94 closure. This weekend it's eastbound I-94 that will close between Interstate 694 and Interstate 394. Also note: eastbound at the Lowry Hill Tunnel will be reduced to one lane.

That's likely to be the biggest hassle driving this weekend in the Twin Cities, although the Minnesota Department of Transportation map is pretty full. Here's a look at some of what you'll encounter.

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center

• Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, through 5 a.m. Monday, eastbound I-94 between I-694 and I-394 will be closed.

• Eastbound I-94 at Lowry Hill Tunnel will be reduced to one lane; eastbound I-394 traffic will be able to access the tunnel; eastbound I-94 traffic will not.

Interstate 35W at I-94, Minneapolis

• The northbound shoulder of the MnPASS lane into downtown Minneapolis, starting around 24th Street, is closed through early 2018.

• The ramp from 31st Street to southbound I-35W is closed through early October.

Minnesota Highway 95, Woodbury to Afton

• Both directions of Highway 95 between just north of 22nd Street and 15th Street are closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

• Detour: Bailey Road to Woodbury Drive.
