Studs Terkel traveled the country in the early 1970s, interviewing working people about their jobs and their lives. Those conversations then became the best-selling book "Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do.".
Radio Diaries producer Joe Richman selected several of Studs Terkel's interview subjects, some of which spoke again more than 40 years later, for the documentary: "The Working Tapes of Studs Terkel."
The documentary features interviews with a telephone switchboard operator, a hotel piano player, a Chicago police officer, an auto factory worker, an advertising executive and more.
