Growing concern for destructive Hurricane Harvey

A quick update in between live broadcasts from the Minnesota State Fair.

Yesterday I tweeted Hurricane Harvey blew up undergoing rapid intensification mast night. Check out the comparison between satellite images over the past 24 hours.

Today's visible loop shows the rapid intensification and now development of an eye.

There's no sugar coating this one. The potential for wind and storm surge damage, flooding and loss of life is high. This looks like the strongest hurricane to make a U.S. landfall in 12 years since Wilma in 2005.
