Today's Morning Edition music is from 50 years ago when the Monkees arrived in St. Paul at the peak of their popularity.

The review that appeared in the Minneapolis Tribune the next day said:

"It is rumored that the Monkees performed Friday at the St. Paul Auditorium. The only thing certain is that some 10,800 teeny-boppers screamed for more than an hour while lights flashed and four long-haired figures danced about the stage. The group apparently played quite a few songs, but because of the never-ending shriek, every song sounded about the same."
