Alexander Ramsey Middle School in Minneapolis has a new name: Justice Page Middle School. The school board voted to make the change this week, after a renaming campaign led by the school's students.
The new name honors Minnesota's first African-American Supreme Court justice and former player for the Minnesota Vikings. The old namesake belonged a Minnesota governor who called for Native American people to be driven from the state during the U.S.-Dakota war.
MPR News host Tom Weber spoke with the school's principal Erin Rathke and Justice Alan Page.
