Warm Sunday, but less humid

Strong thunderstorms moved through parts of south-central and southeastern Minnesota late Saturday afternoon and early Saturday evening, but most spots in the Twin Cities metro area didn't see any rain.

There were some small areas of rain that popped up in the metro at times.

It's been quite a while since significant rain has been measured at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Saturday May 20th was very wet in much of Minnesota, and 1.47 inches of rain fell that day at MSP Airport.

In the two weeks since May 20th, a total of only 9/100ths of an inch of rain has been tallied at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Some metro area lawns and gardens are probably getting thirsty!

Warm again

The official Twin Cities high temp was 90 degrees on Saturday.

Our Sunday highs will be well into the 80s over most of southern and central Minnesota:

A few spots in southwestern Minnesota could see the lower 90s.

70s are expected in northern Minnesota.

Twin Cities metro area highs are expected to be in the upper 70s to around 80 during this coming week.

Sunday rain chance northeast

Northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin could see some scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm on Sunday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential Sunday rain pattern:

The color chart to the right of the loop refers to the strength of the signal that returns to the radar, not to the amount of rain.

The severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows the potential for general thunderstorms, but not severe thunderstorms, over northeastern Minnesota on Sunday:
