There are less than two weeks left in the legislative session, and lawmakers still need to work out a deal with the governor on big budget issues. Three political reporters joined MPR News host Tom Weber at the MPR Capitol bureau to discuss the latest at the Minnesota Legislature. Brian Bakst and Tim Pugmire cover state government for MPR News, and Briana Bierschbach covers the Legislature for MinnPost.
Later in the show, Weber talked with Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon about President Trump's new executive order that creates a commission to review alleged voter fraud and voter suppression in the U.S. This order follows Trump's allegations that millions of people voted illegally in the 2016 election. The president never provided proof to back up that claim.
Finally, Weber spoke with Star Tribune reporter Janet Moore about an agreement to dissolve the Counties Transit Improvement Board. The board spends a significant amount of money on transit in the Twin Cities but Moore explains why having no board at all could actually result in increased transit.
