A man allegedly said he was trying to kill a Muslim person following an attempted stabbing in Minneapolis' Cedar-Riverside neighborhood Friday night.
Kelvin Porter, 47, is charged with second-degree assault after trying to stab a man on the sidewalk Friday night, according to a complaint filed Monday in Hennepin County district court.
While Porter was being taken to jail, the charges says, he told officers, "I hate Muslims" and yelled while being booked that he'd tried to kill a Muslim.
The victim had cuts on his forehead and ear and was treated on the scene, according to court documents.
Porter has a criminal history dating back to 1988 that includes convictions for disorderly conduct, property damage and assault.
