The Department of Justice is planning to announce a review of the St. Anthony Police Department in the wake of the shooting of Philando Castile.

The DOJ's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services is expected to announce the review Thursday, alongside U.S. Attorney Andy Luger and St. Anthony Police Chief Jon Mangseth. The office works to help police departments around the country advance community policing.

Castile was killed July 6 during a traffic stop in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights. The shooting's gruesome aftermath was streamed live on Facebook by Castile's girlfriend, who says the 32-year-old was shot several times while reaching for his ID after he told the officer he had a gun permit and was armed.

St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez faces a manslaughter charge.
