Today's Morning Edition music is from the Jimi Hendrix Experience with "Foxy Lady." Hendrix recorded the song 50 years ago today.
On that very same day in December 1966, he taped his television debut on the influential British music show "Ready Steady Go."
Shortly after, he started opening for the Monkees on their tour across England and the U.S. They played together here in the Twin Cities in August of 1967. Fans at the shows reportedly sang "foxy Davy" when Hendrix played this song to show their love for teen idol Davy Jones of the Monkees.
