St. Cloud video company files suit to deny service to same-sex couples

Husband-and-wife duo Carl and Angel Larsen own their own film production company in St. Cloud, Minn. They get calls to make commercials and film live events and they want to start filming weddings.

But they don't want to work for any same-sex couples.

They believe marriage should be between one man and one woman. Minnesota law, however, forbids discrimination based on sexual orientation, and they could face heavy penalties if they turn away same-sex couples who want to hire them.

So the Larsens filed a lawsuit against the state this week to allow them to refuse service to same-sex couples.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Carl Larsen, along with with his lawyer Jeremy Tedesco of the Alliance Defending Freedom.
