It was five years ago this fall that the Occupy Wall Street movement first came to wide attention.
The movement varies in focus from place to place. It has fought for social and economic justice and for new forms of democracy.
On Wednesday, north Minneapolis nonprofit Neighborhoods Organizing for Change will hold a panel event to mark Occupy's anniversary, discussing its effect on the world and other social movements, including Black Lives Matter.
Anthony Newby, executive director of NOC, and Monique White, who worked with the Occupy movement to fight the foreclosure of her home in north Minneapolis, joined MPR News host Tom Weber to discuss the event and the impact of Occupy.
