November is Epilepsy Awareness Month and a new documentary by a Minneapolis-based filmmaker explores that subject through a personal lens.
Stacia Kalinowski had her first seizure when she was a junior at the University of Minnesota. She wouldn't be diagnosed with epilepsy until years later. When she lost her job, it set her on a path to learn about the neurological disorder that causes seizures and what she calls electric brainstorms.
Her documentary is called "Brainstorm" and it premieres Friday at 7 p.m. in Murphy Hall at the University of Minnesota. It will also air on Twin Cities Public Television. She spoke with MPR's Cathy Wurzer.
