Some Saturday showers, then Sunday sunshine

Temperatures may seem a bit cool this weekend, but we're actually just getting back to normal. Our average high temperature this time of year is 52 degrees in the Twin Cities.

Highs in the 50s are expected this Saturday over southern Minnesota, with 40s over the north.

Sunday's highs will be similar:

We will see some sunshine on Sunday, as a high pressure system moves over Minnesota:

Saturday showers

Periods of showers are likely today and this evening, especially over central and southern Minnesota.

NOAA’s North American Mesoscale 4 km resolution forecast model shows our Saturday shower activity:

Rainfall totals will tend to be light over Minnesota. The National Weather Service national precipitation forecast today through tonight shows much heavier rains for northern California:

Most of California is experiencing drought conditions, so all rain is welcome at this point, even on a weekend.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that the most serious drought conditions are over central and southern California:

Unfortunately, the heaviest rain will miss southern California this weekend.

Mild Halloween

Above normal high temps are on tap for Halloween:

Scattered showers are possible on Monday, but any showers should be confined to northern Minnesota by the time the ghost and goblins head out Monday evening.
