When Minnesota voters go to the polls on Nov. 8, they'll be asked to consider question that hasn't received much attention this political season: Who should decide how much state legislators get paid?
It's a tricky issue for Minnesota lawmakers, who haven't had a change to their base salary since 1999.
Voters will be asked whether the state's constitution should be amended to create an independent council that would set those salaries. If passed, it would be a dramatic change from the current system, in which legislators vote on their own pay.
MPR News host Tom Weber spoke about it with reporters Brian Bakst of MPR News and Briana Bierschbach of MinnPost.
