Warming trend
The cold high pressure system is leaving us, and winds will pick up from the south on Friday as a low pressure system moves closer:
Friday highs could touch 70 degrees in southwestern Minnesota, with 60s common over much of central and southeastern parts of our state:
Saturday will be even warmer:
Scattered showers are possible Saturday and Saturday night.
Sunday will be mild for mid October:
We'll have another chance of showers Sunday night.
Fall colors
I saw this splash of fall color in St. Paul this afternoon:
The view is looking east along Jefferson avenue. Maple trees line Jefferson Avenue between Snelling and Hamline avenues, and it's always a colorful drive in October. I think the color may peak in a week or so.
The latest Minnesota fall color report from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources shows that parts of northern Minnesota are now past peak color:
Colors are nearing peak in parts of southern Minnesota.
A Wisconsin fall color report is also available.
