Coming up for air

Minnesota is swimming in turbulent weather waters this summer. Bow echo blowdowns race across northern Minnesota. The next extreme rainfall event pops up on Doppler with little warning. Farmers watch soggy fields with worry. A sump pump symphony hums away in the metro.

Stringing together two dry days has been a chore this summer. Most of Minnesota enjoys another dry day again Friday, before the next rain wave rolls in Saturday.

The best days for power-snacking the Minnesota State Fair this weekend? Friday and again Sunday. Bring the umbrella Saturday.

Next low pressure wave

The next low rides east into Minnesota Saturday. Rain seems to favor the morning and midday hours, but I can't rule out an afternoon downpour. Sunday looks brighter and probably dry, maybe even lake-worthy.

90s still ahead?

I still think we'll see another 90 degree day or two before the summer season is done. Next week looks summery, and the longer range GFS is still hinting at potential heat around Labor Day weekend. We may actually be praying for a real September cold front in a couple of weeks. Here's the 15-day meteogram for MSP from Custom Weather.

Florida still watching for 'Hermine'

Hermine has been slow to the development party and is still waiting to develop near Hispaniola. Still, NOAA's National Hurricane center gives a 70% chance of a named storm within 5 days.
