State transportation officials are cautioning Twin Cities drivers to be ready for delays next week as key sections of Interstate 94 in St. Paul are shut down.
From 11 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, the eastbound lanes on I-94 will be closed between Marion Street and Lexington Parkway.
From 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, the westbound lanes on Interstate 94 will be closed in that same stretch, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said in a statement.
The closures are needed as crews set beams for the Mackubin Street and Grotto Street pedestrian and bike bridges, which are being replaced, the department added.
Drivers should follow posted detours using Interstate 35E, Minnesota Highway 36 and Minnesota Highway 280.
Editor's note (Aug. 29, 2016): The story has been updated to reflect new and corrected information from MnDOT on the lane closures.
