The idea pitched this hour is that the job market disruptions we see in the economy may not be temporary, and the best way to provide a shock-absorber to individual Americans is to just give them money.
Andy Stern is out with a new book titled "Raising the Floor: How a Universal Basic Income Can Renew Our Economy and Rebuild the American Dream." Stern is former president of SEIU and is senior fellow in business law and public policy at Columbia University. He spoke June 30, 2016 at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colorado. Elliot Gerson of the Aspen Institute is the moderator.
