Two Republicans vie for Senate District 32

Dozens of races for Minnesota House and Senate seats will be decided in the upcoming primary election on Aug. 9. Many legislative districts historically favor one party or the other, giving the winners of the primary a near shoo-in in November.

MPR News host Tom Weber is exploring two of these contested primaries.

This week, he spoke with the two Republican candidates running for Senate District 32. That's where Sen. Sean Nienow faces a challenge from businessman Mark Koran. Koran won the GOP endorsement this spring.

District 32 includes most or all of Isanti and Chisago counties in the north metro, including North Branch, Taylors Falls and Cambridge.
