3 die in apparent drownings over weekend

Three people died in apparent drownings in Minnesota over the weekend.

A 7-year-old girl was pulled from the water at East Bush Lake Beach in Bloomington at about 4:14 p.m. Sunday.

She later was pronounced dead on arrival at Minneapolis Children's Hospital.

Hennepin County sheriff's deputies recovered the body of a 35-year-old female at about 1:35 a.m. near Crystal Bay Sunday near Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka.

Sheriff Rich Stanek the incident follows earlier drownings in Lake Minnetonka May 22 and July 20.

"People have to remember that they always have to be aware of their surroundings. We encourage folks to always wear a life jacket, whether they're a good swimmer or not so much. It just provides that extra level of protection and in this case may very well have made a difference," Stanek said.

Another woman died after she was found unresponsive Saturday evening on the southeastern side of Long Lake in Orono.
