1. The family of Philando Castile, the man fatally shot by a police officer last week in Falcon Heights, is seeking a comprehensive review of laws in Minnesota related to police hiring and training. Also, Castile’s mother received a call President Obama. (MPR News)

2. Gov. Mark Dayton was talking taconite Tuesday during a trip to Nashwauk. (Mesabi Daily News) Today, Dayton heads to Litchield and Watkins to view tornado damage.

3. Minnesota has lost a respected, veteran legislator. State Sen. Jim Metzen, DFL-South St. Paul, died at age 72 after a battle with lung cancer. (MPR News)

4. Bernie Sanders has vowed to do everything he can to help presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton win in November. (AP)

5. Republicans have advanced a draft party platform that embraces many of presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump’s economic proposals while preserving previous party positions on social issues. (Politico)
