Thunderstorms rolled through Minnesota in the overnight and early morning hours. Locations in far southern Minnesota will continue to see some thunderstorm activity into the early afternoon.
In the Twin Cities, we expect some periods of showers until about midday, then a chance of a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon and evening.
Strong to severe thunderstorms could develop over northern, western and central Minnesota later today and tonight.

Severe risk
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows an enhanced risk of severe weather today and tonight for northwestern Minnesota, and a slight risk for much of northern and central Minnesota. There is a marginal risk of severe weather today and tonight for the Twin Cities:

An unusually strong low pressure system to our northwest will drive a cold front through Minnesota Monday night:
Ahead of the cold front, strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible over Minnesota and western Wisconsin late Monday and Monday night.
Warm and humid
Dew point temperatures in the mid to upper 60s will be common this afternoon, and highs will warm into the 80s over much of Minnesota:
Some spots in southwestern Minnesota could reach the lower 90s.
On Monday, dew point temperatures are expected to reach the lower 70s over much of Minnesota. High temperatures could touch 90 in many parts of central and southern Minnesota tomorrow.
Heavy rain
Some west-central Minnesota counties were experiencing drought conditions last week, according to the U.S. drought monitor:
Wilkin county was among the areas experiencing drought.
