Beautiful Saturday; chance of a Sunday thunderstorm

We'll enjoy some of the nicest weather in the country today, with plenty of sunshine and light winds.

Highs will be in the lower 80s over most of Minnesota, with some 70s over the northeast.

Scattered thunderstorms could develop tonight over northwestern Minnesota, then spread southeastward.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System shows the thunderstorm chance extends into Sunday for northern and central Minnesota:

The Twin Cities metro area could see scattered thunderstorms at times on Sunday and Sunday night.

Severe risk

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a slight risk of severe weather overnight for part of far northwestern Minnesota, with a marginal risk extending over much of western Minnesota:

The slight risk of severe weather Sunday and Sunday night includes the northwestern portion of the Twin Cities metro area.

Warmer and more humid

Highs on Sunday will be in the mid to upper 80s over much of southern and west-central Minnesota, with lower 90s possible over the southwest:

Many spots over southern and central Minnesota will see dew point temperatures rise into the upper 60s by Sunday afternoon.

Some spots in the Twin Cities could hit 90 on Monday.

Monday will be steamy across much of Minnesota, with dew point temperatures popping into the lower 70s.
