Minnesota transportation officials cut drivers some slack over the July 4 holiday with little construction and all lanes open on Interstate 94 northwest of the Twin Cities. But the pain returns this weekend.

Warning signs and single lanes will sprout again across the metro area. Minnesota Highway 5 will be completely closed this weekend between St. Paul and Fort Snelling, shutting a key Mississippi River bridge crossing.

That might be the biggest hassle. Here's a look at some of the others.

Interstate 35E, St. Paul, north of I-94. Beginning 7 p.m. Friday, one lane on northbound I-35E will close and the road will be reduced to a single lane at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.

Minnesota Highway 100, St. Louis Park. No shock here. Southbound Highway 100 closes Friday at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. between Interstate 394 and Minnesota Highway 62.

Minnesota Highway 3, Farmington. Beginning 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, northbound Highway 3 will be completely closed between Minnesota Highway 50 and Willow Street. Access to residences and businesses will remain open.
