Good Wednesday morning! It's time to catch up after an extra-long weekend. Here’s the digest:
1. FBI Director James Comey is not recommending criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. Still, Comey was highly critical of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. He called Clinton’s actions "extremely careless." (Washington Post)
2. Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, criticized the FBI decision, and Clinton. Trump said it was an example of a “rigged system.” (USA Today)
3. President Obama made a campaign appearance with Hillary Clinton in North Carolina. (AP)
4. The three African American members of the Minnesota Legislature are facing primary challenges Aug. 9, from other black candidates who are complaining about the pace of chance under the incumbents. (MPR News)
5. The executive director of the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board is retiring. Gary Goldsmith plans to leave later this year, once a replacement is on the job. (MPR News)
