Today's Morning Edition music is from a legendary guitarist. Fellow guitarist Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones once said, "When I heard 'Heartbreak Hotel,' I knew what I wanted to do in life. It was as plain as day. All I wanted to do in the world was to be able to play and sound like that. Everyone else wanted to be Elvis, I wanted to be Scotty."

Richards was talking about Scotty Moore who played guitar with Elvis Presley for 14 years. Moore died Tuesday at the age of 84.

In 1954, Sun Records founder Sam Phillips put Presley together with Moore and bass player Bill Black. Together, they helped created the sound that would become known as rock 'n' roll.

Moore was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and Rolling Stone magazine placed him at No. 29 on their list of the greatest guitarists of all time.
