It could have been much worse.
Severe storms raced across Minnesota Tuesday producing tornadoes and flash flooding. The tornado touchdowns were brief, and mostly in open areas which limited damage.
At least 8 preliminary Minnesota tornado reports came into NOAA's Storm Prediction Center as of Tuesday evening.
The final tornado tally may be lower, with some multiple sightings of the same tornado.

Flash floods near Mankato
The storms dumped a quick 2" to 6" rainfall totals in and around Mankato.
NWS storm total rainfall confirms the heaviest flooding rains near 6" southwest of Mankato.
Water overran some streets near Mankato.
A few scattered showers linger Wednesday. Sunshine and summery temperatures return Thursday and Friday.
