Updraft® - Minnesota Weather News

Storms ending this morning except far southern Minnesota

Numerous thunderstorms lit up the sky with lightning and dropped locally-heavy rain as they raced across Minnesota overnight. Fortunately, they were not severe.

Now as we get into the morning hours the storms are exiting the metro area eastbound into Wisconsin. Then the rest of the day should be storm-free for most of us.

Some thunderstorms are likely to continue to develop over far southern Minnesota. There is a continued marginal risk of severe weather near Interstate 90 and the Iowa border today.

High temperatures today will range from the low 70s in northern Minnesota to the low 80s in the south. The Twin Cities should see a high around 83 degrees with rather muggy dew points.

Another weather system will arrive tomorrow and spread rain northeastward across the state.

Areas of heavy rain are likely again on Tuesday. The possibility of flooding along some of the smaller rivers in southern Minnesota and Iowa will continue:

Some rain showers could linger into Wednesday, especially in northeastern Minnesota. Thursday and Friday look like great days for outdoor activities.

The weekend should bring us another chance of thunderstorms, mainly later on Sunday.
