Six students were removed from a University of Minnesota Board of Regents meeting in handcuffs this morning after disrupting the meeting for about 20 minutes.
The students were protesting proposed tuition hikes at the Twin Cities campus. The board is considering a 2.5 percent tuition hike for in-state students and 7.5 percent increase for students from states that don't have a reciprocity agreement with Minnesota. Both hikes are proposed for students the Twin cities campus.
They also demanded the resignation of President Eric Kaler, free tuition for American Indian students and university divestment from several companies.
Most of the board left the room as the two dozen students listed their demands and chanted.
University police said the arrested protesters were cited and released.
