Periods of showers and t-storms overnight and Tuesday

A low pressure system moves toward us overnight and Tuesday, bringing us periods of rain and some thunderstorms:

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service indicates a slight risk of severe weather overnight into early Tuesday morning over parts of far western Minnesota. There is a marginal risk of severe weather over about the southwestern half of Minnesota, to the east of the slight risk area:

The far southwest corner of the Twin Cities metro area is included in the marginal risk of severe weather.

NOAA weather radio can alert you to severe weather warnings overnight.

Thunderstorms could affect your morning drive to work, and another round of storms might move through during evening drive time.

Cooling trend

Highs were in the 80s over  much of Minnesota on Monday.  Most spots will top out in the 70s on Tuesday:

We could see 60s over the north, with some 50s near Lake Superior.

Wednesday will be cool and breezy, with highs in the 60s over many spots in southern Minnesota:

Some spots in northern Minnesota will see highs in the 50s.

High temperatures return to the 70s over much of southern and central Minnesota on Thursday.
