Showers today, chilly fishing opener

Our Friday the 13th is starting out with rain, which should taper off to isolated showers this afternoon. The winds will  be gusty today, as a low pressure system passes to our south:

Highs today will be almost 20 degrees below normal:

We will see mostly 40s over Minnesota, with a few spots in the south touching 50 if they receive a few glimpses of sun later this afternoon.

Freeze warning tonight

Temps will drop into the 20s and lower 30s over much of Minnesota late tonight and early Saturday:

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for portions of western and central Minnesota overnight:

There could be patchy frost in the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota late tonight and very early Saturday.

You might want to cover outdoor plants tonight, if you can't bring them in.

Highs Saturday will be mainly in the 40s over Minnesota, with a few spots in southern Minnesota touching 50:

It will be breezy as well, so there will be a substantial walleye chop on Minnesota lakes.

Morning wind chill readings in the 20s are possible.

Highs recover a bit on Sunday:

We could hit 60 in the Twin Cities, with mainly 50s over northern Minnesota.

Highs in the 60s are expected Monday through Wednesday, and we should touch 70 next Thursday. Highs next Friday could be well into the 70s!
