Today's Morning Edition music is from the song "Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer. It was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 30 years ago today.

Palmer told the Los Angeles Times that he originally recorded the song as a duet with Chaka Kahn, but Kahn's management didn't want her to have three singles out at the same time. So her voice was scrubbed from the recording and it was released as a solo performance.
