The US Government Accountability Office reports that roughly half of American households with a family member 55 and older have no retirement savings. Additionally, a new report says that the number of retirees classified as "poor" or "near poor" is expected to nearly triple in the next 35 years.
MPR News host Kerri Miller spoke with Teresa Ghilarducci and Kelli Grant about what prevents families from saving and what steps they can take to start.
