Winona County's sheriff wants to take away a Dresbach man's concealed carry gun permit because of a verbal confrontation.
Sheriff Ron Ganrude has petitioned the court to revoke the concealed carry permit for 68-year-old William Underhill. The petition says Underhill was involved in an angry confrontation with two deputies at the Minnesota Department of Transportation shop in Dresbach. It says Underhill had a hand on his firearm and cellphone during the argument.
The Winona Daily News reports the sheriff says Underhill could be a danger to himself or others if he's allowed to continue to carry a gun.
The petition says Underhill told authorities the two deputies involved were "punks" who needed to learn how to treat people. He did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. A hearing is scheduled June 2.
